Twelve B Green Energy Fund is a South African private infrastructure fund focused on making renewable energy investment accessible to eligible taxpayers. The fund uses Section 12B of South Africa’s Income Tax Act, which allows qualifying renewable energy investments to receive accelerated depreciation allowances. The fund states that investors may deduct up to 100% of their investment from taxable income in the first year, with a higher allowance possible when gearing is introduced. It also describes priority profits of 7% to 8% per annum, paid bi-annually, subject to the fund’s terms and risks.
