Twende Social Innovation Center in Arusha is a Tanzanian-based non-governmental organization dedicated to building a nation of problem solvers. With years of experience and a focus on accelerating social innovation, Twende empowers people to design and make their own technologies to solve community challenges. They offer a range of programs, from one-day training sessions to extended eight-week programs, that encourage creativity and innovative thinking.

These programs are open to participants of all ages, from primary school students to community members. In the shorter programs, participants learn mechanical and electrical crafts and create small devices under instruction. In the longer programs, they develop prototypes for devices that address specific challenges they have identified.

Twende also provides maker spaces at their headquarters in Arusha and at Orkolili Secondary School and Vocational Training Centre, where participants can construct their prototypes.
