Twin Oaks Community is a well-established intentional community located in rural central Virginia. Founded in 1967, the community is made up of approximately 70 adult members and 15 children. Twin Oaks embodies its core values of cooperation, sharing, egalitarianism, income-sharing, nonviolence, and ecological sustainability in its way of life.

This community is committed to eliminating sexism, racism, ageism, and competitiveness, striving for equality and inclusivity. Twin Oaks recognizes its location on the traditional territory of the Monacan and Mannahoac peoples, and actively supports the Monacan Indian Nation. Twin Oaks offers opportunities for individuals seeking a home in a community setting, and currently has openings for new members.

The community engages in various income-generating activities, including the production of hammocks, tofu, book indexing, and seed growing. Additionally, Twin Oaks is dedicated to political activism, hosting events such as the Women's Gathering, Queer Gathering, and Communities Conference. Visitors can participate in a structured three-week program to gain insights into community living.
