Texas SmartScape™ is an innovative landscaping program designed to promote sustainable and water-efficient practices tailored to the unique climate and soil conditions of North Central and West Texas. Supported by the North Central Texas Council of Governments (NCTCOG), this initiative educates residents on creating resilient landscapes that thrive despite seasonal variations such as spring rains, summer droughts, and winter cold snaps.

The program emphasizes the selection of native and adapted plants that require minimal irrigation, fertilizers, and pesticides, aligning with two primary goals: conserving water and improving stormwater runoff quality. Texas SmartScape offers a wealth of resources, including design tools, plant searches, and information on municipal support. By encouraging practices like drip irrigation, rainwater harvesting, and effective mulching, Texas SmartScape aims to empower citizens to enhance their environments responsibly. For those looking to create beautiful, eco-friendly landscapes, Texas SmartScape stands as a valuable resource dedicated to the principles of conservation and community education.
