Type550.com is an independent enthusiast resource devoted to the Porsche Type 550 Spyder and its racing legacy. Created by Andrew Hosking, the site brings together research on the car’s design, production, individual histories and continuing appeal, drawing on historical records and contributions from a community of knowledgeable enthusiasts. Its chassis-number directory explores the 90 documented original Type 550s built between 1952 and 1956, while dedicated sections cover special cars, technical specifications, components, body development, colours and restoration details.

The resource also follows the Spyder’s competition history, with coverage of events including the Mille Miglia, Le Mans, Nürburgring, Carrera Panamericana and Sebring, alongside modern historic races, rallies, exhibitions, auctions and gatherings. It also documents the related 550A, an evolution developed as a purpose-built track car. Visitors can connect through community forums and find vintage racing posters and decals in the site’s shop. Social media updates share news about auction results, exhibitions, rallies and archival racing stories.
