About AU-SAFGRAD
AU SAFGRAD, the African Union for Research and Development on Semi-Arid Food Cereals, aims to contribute to the sustainable food security of small agricultural producers and other actors in the semi-arid zone (SAZ) of Africa by helping to strengthen their resilience to crises and shocks. Spanning a vast area from West Africa to North Africa and from East Africa to South Africa, these SAZs are among the most challenging in the world and are becoming even more so due to climate change. Additionally, these areas are vulnerable to conflicts resulting from resource competition and other socio-political causes.
AU SAFGRAD focuses on research and development on semi-arid food cereals to address these challenges. By working with small producers and stakeholders in the SAZ, they aim to develop innovative solutions and strategies to enhance food security and promote sustainable agriculture. Through their programs, partnerships, and resources, AU SAFGRAD is committed to creating a more resilient and sustainable agricultural sector in Africa's semi-arid regions
