About Umm Al Hayman For Wastewater Treatment Company K.S.P.C.
Uahpc, also known as the Umm Al Hayman Wastewater Project, is a brand dedicated to addressing wastewater treatment in the State of Kuwait. This project is one of the world's largest and most complex wastewater treatment initiatives, focusing on treating sewage wastewater from the southern region of Kuwait. By utilizing highly treated wastewater, known as treated sewage effluent (TSE), Uahpc supplies agriculture and various industries with a sustainable water source.
As Kuwait's second privately owned and first independent wastewater facility under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) law, Uahpc represents a significant milestone in infrastructure development. The project includes a massive wastewater treatment plant designed for 1. 7 million people, a 450 km network of pipelines, pumping stations, and reservoirs, and even its own biogas production to meet part of its energy needs.
With an initial capacity of 500,000 cubic meters per day, Uahpc aims to expand its wastewater treatment capabilities to reach 700,000 cubic meters per day. The brand operates through various models, including Build, Operate, and Transfer (BOT), Design, Build, and Operate (DBO), and Operations and Maintenance (O&M). Uahpc's stakeholders include WTE Wassertechnik GmbH, a German water technology company, International Financial Advisors Holding, Kuwait Investment Authority, and Kuwait Authority for Partnership Projects.
The Ministry of Public Works in Kuwait is the project's client. Located in Qibla, Kuwait, Uahpc emphasizes the importance of sustainable water management and environmental conservation in the region. By prioritizing the treatment and reuse of wastewater, Uahpc contributes to a more resource-efficient and environmentally-friendly approach to water management in Kuwait.
