About UBC Continuing Professional Development
UBC CPD, or Continuing Professional Development, is a brand that offers a range of educational resources and programs for medical professionals. One of their notable initiatives is the British Columbia Physician Integration Program (BC-PIP), which aims to support international medical graduates (IMGs) in transitioning from provisional licensing to full licensure to practice medicine in British Columbia. The BC-PIP program is designed to be completed within eight months of obtaining registration and is a requirement for provisionally licensed IMGs new to practice in BC.
It offers various components, including the IMG Orientation Conference, the Practice Ready Assessment BC (PRA-BC), and the IMG Peer Support Network. UBC CPD provides funding for tuition fees for the IMG Orientation Conference, and there are no fees for the online modules. The program is supported by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of BC, as well as the Ministry of Health and Doctors of BC.
With its focus on supporting IMGs in their transition to full licensure, UBC CPD's BC-PIP program plays a vital role in helping international medical graduates integrate successfully into the healthcare system in British Columbia
