The Utica Board of Officials for Women’s Basketball is an association providing certified referee services to girls’ basketball programs in Section III and the Utica–Rome–Mohawk Valley region of New York. Its primary focus is high school girls’ basketball, while its broader goal is to support the development of female players by providing qualified officiating for contests at all levels. Schools and programs can contact the board to learn about contracting its services.
The association also recruits and prepares new officials. Its training program offers instruction, mentorship, rules education, and guidance in game mechanics, followed by a certification test for candidates. Prospective officials must meet New York State clearance requirements before working games, and successful candidates join the board and pay applicable dues. The organization provides information about meetings, calendars, rules, handouts, and other resources for members and the basketball community. Through its officiating services and training opportunities, the Utica Board of Officials for Women’s Basketball helps support girls’ basketball across its regional service area.
