United Egg Producers (UEP) is a leading organization dedicated to ensuring the welfare of hens and the quality of eggs produced in the United States. Committed to animal care, UEP has developed comprehensive guidelines supported by extensive research and insights from an independent Scientific Advisory Committee. Their efforts focus on promoting high standards of hen well-being in both conventional cage housing and cage-free systems, with over 90% of U.S. egg production voluntarily adhering to these UEP Certified standards.
The UEP Certified program prominently features annual audits by independent inspectors to maintain integrity and trust. Eggs from certified farms proudly display the UEP Certified or UEP Certified Cage-Free seal, indicating a commitment to animal welfare and quality assurance. UEP emphasizes the importance of nutrition in hen diets, contributing significantly to the nutritional value of the eggs produced. By addressing the Five Freedoms of Animal Welfare, United Egg Producers ensures that their practices not only benefit the hens but also produce high-quality eggs for consumers.
