UFIL Cuenca

Urban Forest Innovation Lab (UFIL) is an entrepreneurship and innovation programme focused on forest bioeconomy in Cuenca, Spain. It brings together aspiring entrepreneurs, businesses, institutions and other stakeholders to develop sustainable opportunities connected with forests. The programme combines project-based learning, training, mentoring, coaching, incubation and support for business growth.

UFIL offers three ways to participate. CREAR supports individuals in developing their own business ideas, with training and guidance available regardless of their background or employment status. DESAFIAR helps companies explore solutions to business challenges related to forest bioeconomy, using multidisciplinary teams and expert support; participation does not require a financial contribution from the company. CONECTAR enables people and organisations to join a collaboration network and contribute to the development of Cuenca’s forest bioeconomy sector.

The programme’s areas of interest include sustainable forest management, biodiversity services, timber construction, biomass, carbon storage, forest technology, wood-based materials, water, resin and agroforestry products. UFIL works with experts and partners including UCLM, IED, FSC, UPM and CEOE to foster innovation, sustainability and local entrepreneurship.
