About UISG International Union of Superiors General
UISG International Union of Superiors General is a vibrant international organization that serves as a forum for female Superiors General in an ecclesial setting. With a global membership, our aim is to build connections and networks to facilitate communication among religious sisters across different languages, cultures, and geographical distances, promoting a sense of community and communion. We offer a space and platform for our members to share experiences, exchange information, and mentor one another, fostering leadership not only within their congregations but also in society and the Church.
Our vision is to be a prophetic voice within the Church and the world, effectively communicating and offering hope to religious women. Through various programs, workshops, meetings (both in-person and online), and publications, we actively support the growth and development of our members. Established in 1965, we continue to fulfill our mission of promoting a broader understanding of women's religious life and facilitating dialogue and collaboration within the Church and society.
Our structure includes 36 regional constellations and a Council of Delegates, along with an Executive Board and an Executive Secretary who oversees the organization's daily operations. The Plenary Assembly, held every three years, is a significant event that brings together the Superiors General for consultation, reflection, and animation at an international level. Our membership currently comprises 1903 leaders representing diverse congregations across Africa, Asia, Europe, the Americas, and Oceania
