Founded on October 26, 1981, as the heir of Chile's Technical University of the State (UTE, est. 1961), UMAG is a public state university and has grown into the southernmost university on the planet — a title that's not just geographic, but symbolic. With its main campus in Punta Arenas, Chile, UMAG extends across the entire Magallanes region and reaches into Antarctica itself, bringing world-class education to one of Earth's most remote and extraordinary frontiers.
