Umsonst & Draussen Festival Karlstadt is a volunteer-supported music and community festival held in Karlstadt, Germany. Known as U&D Karlstadt, it brings people together for three days of live music, dancing and a welcoming festival atmosphere. The event features two stages and takes place at the Mäuerle festival grounds. Alongside its music programme, the festival offers family and children’s activities, as well as additional events and experiences under the “Drumherum” programme.

The festival is organised as a project of the Troja association and relies on the contributions of volunteers, performers, sponsors and supporters. Its organisers describe the event as a long-running tradition, with more than 30 years of history, and acknowledge the roughly 400 volunteers who help make it possible. U&D Karlstadt also invites musicians to apply to perform at future editions. The 33rd festival is scheduled for 23–25 July 2027. Through its combination of live performance, family programming and community participation, the festival offers an accessible gathering for visitors of different ages.
