UMVV

Unità Medico Veterinaria Volontaria (UMVV) is an Italian volunteer association of veterinarians working in civil protection. Based in Fossano, in the province of Cuneo, it focuses on animal health and assistance during emergencies, supporting preparedness and response in collaboration with civil protection organisations. Its activities include training volunteers and professionals in veterinary emergency management, animal rescue and care during non-epidemic disasters, and the organisation of veterinary health services within civil protection.

UMVV also takes part in exercises and educational initiatives, including school camps and evacuation simulations, and shares information on animal health and the One Health approach. The association provides access to course materials and updates about its projects and events. People interested in joining can download an application form, while supporters can contribute through donations or Italy’s five-per-thousand tax allocation.

UMVV’s work is carried out by volunteers and reflects a commitment to including animals in emergency planning and response. Its website also publishes news about collaborations, training courses, field activities and veterinary interventions
