UNH

The Gemeinnützige Umwelthaus GmbH, known as the Umwelt- und Nachbarschaftshaus (UNH), is a non-profit organization wholly owned by the State of Hesse. Based in Kelsterbach, it focuses on the relationship between Frankfurt Airport and the surrounding region. Its role is to monitor developments, provide neutral and transparent information, and encourage dialogue among communities and other stakeholders.

The UNH offers free information, education, and research services in line with its statutory mission. Its work covers aircraft noise, environmental monitoring, social monitoring, and health, supported by scientific assessments, publications, measurement data, and analyses of flight movements. Online tools provide information such as current and forecast airport operating directions, flight routes, and noise levels. The organization also shares resources about noise protection and environmental topics, and hosts an interactive exhibition and events at its information centre. School groups can explore the subjects through educational resources and interactive exhibits. The UNH serves residents, specialists, policymakers, teachers, parents, and the press, helping them understand airport impacts through accessible evidence and impartial communication.
