The Centre for Sustainable Agricultural Mechanization (CSAM) is a regional institution of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP). Based in Beijing, it works to advance sustainable agricultural mechanization and support more resilient, productive food systems across the region. Its work brings together governments, research and development partners, farmers, and other stakeholders to share knowledge and encourage cooperation.

CSAM’s activities include technical training, research and data initiatives, regional forums, and South-South cooperation. Its focus areas include climate-resilient practices, conservation agriculture, straw and crop-residue management, and mechanization suited to arid and semi-arid environments. The Centre also supports capacity building and engagement of young people in sustainable agriculture.

CSAM provides publications and knowledge resources, including policy briefs, meeting documents, and materials from its regional and thematic programmes. Through workshops, dialogues, and partnerships with organizations such as IFAD, it highlights practical agricultural technology and investment approaches. These services help stakeholders exchange experience and explore mechanization solutions that contribute to sustainable development and climate-smart agriculture.
