Unbridled Souls

Unbridled Souls is an Alberta-based counselling practice serving children, youth, and families through equine-, nature-, and animal-assisted mental health services. Its approach centers on building trusting relationships and respecting the choices of both clients and animals, using those connections to support personal growth and explore feelings, thoughts, and trauma. Sessions are tailored to individual, group, or family goals and may include horses, dogs, goats, and chickens, alongside therapeutic art, trauma-informed yoga, or meditation.

The practice also offers beginner-level, trauma-informed horsemanship and riding lessons for young people aged 8 to 18 who have participated in its counselling services and have a personal goal to ride. Lessons emphasize horse communication, care, self-esteem, relationships, and leadership rather than preparation for equestrian sports. Canine-assisted counselling with certified Therapy Dog Daenerys is available at homes and permitted public locations. In addition, Unbridled Souls provides a puppy stay-and-train program for families with children who have special needs, including help selecting a puppy and training tailored to family needs.
