Un commun accord is a nonpartisan French citizen initiative created to give the public a meaningful role in discussions ahead of the 2027 presidential election. Initiated by Jean-Marc Jancovici and supported by figures from civil society, the project brings together 150 randomly selected people chosen to reflect the diversity of France’s population. From September 2026 to February 2027, they are scheduled to meet for six working weekends in Paris, hearing from scientists and experts before deliberating on major societal dilemmas and developing proposals they may share in public debate.
Topics include the management of scarce resources, employment and purchasing power, individual freedoms and collective harms, and the trade-offs involved in transport and industry. Un commun accord also offers a digital platform where people across France can follow the discussions, express their views, respond to proposals, and suggest alternatives. The initiative provides public information about the project and its participants, invites people to help prioritize debate topics, and offers a free newsletter and opportunities to support its crowdfunding campaign
