About Austin Convention Center
The Austin Convention Center is undergoing a transformative redevelopment aimed at reimagining the center's role within the city, marking a significant 10-year journey toward sustainability and growth. Notably, it will be the world’s first Zero Carbon Certified convention center, highlighting a commitment to eco-friendly practices. With an anticipated annual economic impact of $750 million, the new facility will expand from 365,000 to 620,000 square feet to accommodate growing demand for events and gatherings.
In addition to providing an unparalleled venue for conferences and conventions, the project emphasizes public art, with an investment of $17.7 million dedicated to enhancing the cultural landscape of downtown Austin. The center is designed to foster connectivity between various districts, effectively bridging east and west Austin. Scheduled to open in Spring 2029, the Austin Convention Center represents a bold step forward in creating an innovative and sustainable space that will serve as a vital hub for the community and visitors alike.
