Unearthed Literary Journal

Unearthed is an innovative online literary journal published by SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry. Established in 2015, the journal aims to explore and illuminate our intricate relationships with the environment through creative works. The concept of "unearthing" reflects a commitment to revealing both the overlooked and the novel—inviting fresh perspectives on the familiar and the extraordinary.

The journal publishes a diverse range of submissions, including poetry, creative and critical nonfiction, fiction, visual art, and video. While contributions from established artists and writers are welcomed, Unearthed prioritizes the voices of emerging talents, particularly those from underrepresented backgrounds. It actively encourages previously unpublished writers and local Syracuse community members to participate in the literary dialogue.

Unearthed releases two issues annually—Spring and Fall—and is currently seeking submissions for its Fall 2024 cover art. The editorial team, composed of dedicated graduate and undergraduate students, is guided by faculty advisor Addie Hopes, ensuring a supportive environment for creative expression.
