GRID-Geneva, the Global Resource Information Database, is a collaborative initiative involving the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), the Swiss Federal Office for the Environment (FOEN), and the University of Geneva (UniGe). Composed of a dedicated team of 20 Environmental Data Scientists, GRID-Geneva specializes in transforming complex data into actionable knowledge that aids environmental decision-making. Their expertise encompasses processing satellite imagery, utilizing advanced remote sensing software, and creating geospatial data models through Geographical Information Systems (GIS).

Additionally, GRID-Geneva develops and maintains data platforms that support UNEP and numerous environmental conventions, such as the Ramsar Convention. They are also committed to promoting environmental education by offering conferences and capacity-building programs. The partnership underscores a robust science-policy interface that combines solid scientific research with substantial computational resources, advising policies to enhance environmental management.
