The INSERM-CEA Cognitive Neuroimaging Unit, known as UNICOG, is a neuroscience research laboratory directed by Stanislas Dehaene, Professor at the Collège de France. Bringing together five specialist teams, the unit investigates how the human brain supports language, learning, perception, cognition and consciousness. Its Languages of the Brain team studies neural representations involved in abilities such as natural language, reading, arithmetic and geometry, alongside the sensory processes that underpin them.
The Neuroimaging of Development team examines cognitive development in infants and children and develops imaging methods suited to young participants. Researchers in Primate Consciousness and Cognition investigate primate brain function and its modulation through pharmacological agents and electrical neurostimulation. The Cognition and Brain Dynamics team explores multisensory processing and the brain’s representation of time, using magnetoencephalography as a principal method.
The Computational Brain team builds quantitative models and algorithms to understand brain functions and neural codes. UNICOG also shares research news, publications and opportunities to participate, and provides educational resources, including the Mon Cerveau à l’École website
