Unique Beginnings

Unique Beginnings is a Manawatū-based counselling and perinatal support practice led by Rebecca Robinson, a registered nurse, International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC), and counsellor. Its services are tailored to individuals and whānau, with a focus on life transitions, pregnancy, postpartum experiences, and trauma-informed care. The practice supports people navigating stress, uncertainty, difficult life changes, or the emotional impact of a challenging birth.

Services include individual and family counselling, birth trauma therapy, birth story listening, lactation consultations, and birthing preparation classes for first-time and experienced parents. Practical and emotional support is offered to help clients build confidence and find a way forward that suits their needs. Additional offerings include birth support, labour support, postpartum abdominal massage through Closing the Bones, and Unique Fit bras. Gift vouchers are also available.

Appointments are offered in person at locations in Palmerston North and Awahuri, as well as virtually through secure platforms for clients in New Zealand and internationally. Lactation visits more than 20 kilometres from the office may incur travel costs.
