Founded in 1887 by university graduates who valued literature and the arts, the University Club of Chicago is a private downtown club where members gather to connect, learn, work and celebrate. Its historic Gothic clubhouse at 76 East Monroe Street, designed by members and architects William Holabird and Martin Roche, has been the Club’s home since 1909.
The Club offers a broad range of amenities and experiences. Members can dine across five venues, featuring seasonal, globally inspired cuisine and a distinctive beverage program, or stay in one of 59 guest rooms. Athletics and wellness facilities include squash, swimming, fitness classes, massage and physical therapy services. A business center provides workstations, conference rooms and printing, while event spaces accommodate weddings, corporate gatherings and social occasions.
Programming brings cultural figures and public leaders into conversation with members, alongside annual events, family activities and special-interest clubs. Members can also access more than 250 reciprocal clubs worldwide.
