UAB Hospital is the flagship of UAB Medicine’s clinical enterprise, located in Birmingham’s Medical District alongside major research centers and clinics. A major center for clinical research, it has 1,207 licensed beds and provides a broad range of primary and specialty care, from routine treatment to complex diagnoses. Its faculty physicians, nurses, and support teams draw on UAB’s academic and research resources to develop coordinated, personalized care, including access to some treatments not otherwise available in the area.

The hospital’s programs and services include the UAB Heart and Vascular Center, Level 1 Trauma and Burn Center, Women & Infants Center, Spain Rehabilitation Center, Center for Psychiatric Medicine, and University Emergency Department. Its recognized services also include neurosciences, critical care, cancer care through the O’Neal Comprehensive Cancer Center, and diabetes care supported by the UAB Comprehensive Diabetes Research Center and Glycemic Control Program.
