About Unmc
Uganda Nurses and Midwives Council (UNMC) is a professional regulatory and supervisory body dedicated to providing high-quality nursing and midwifery services to the public in Uganda. Established in 1922, UNMC operates under The Uganda Nurses and Midwives Act (1996) and oversees the registration and licensure of nursing and midwifery professionals. The Registrar of UNMC is responsible for safeguarding the registers of all nurses and midwives in Uganda, ensuring compliance with regulations.
UNMC offers online registration and licensure services, access to recognized nursing schools, career development through Continuous Professional Development (CPD), and guidance on establishing private clinics or nursing homes. The council also publishes the Uganda Journal of Nursing and Midwifery and provides various resources for downloading.
