Until Every Cage is Empty is a free, open-source mapping project that makes the infrastructure of animal exploitation in the United States visible. Its interactive map brings together more than 56,000 locations, including slaughterhouses, processing plants, laboratories, farms and breeders, dealers, and exhibitors such as zoos. Users can search by location, filter facilities by country, state or province, and type, and adjust how map markers appear. The site also offers tools to share or download information, including a CSV export, supporting research and public accountability.
The project presents the map as a way to challenge the secrecy and propaganda it says help normalize violence against animals, and to show how these facilities may be close to people’s own communities. Its raw data is built through community contributions, and the resource is intended to remain free and open source. Guides explain how to use the map effectively, while the About section provides information on the project and how people can contribute.
