About Khartoum University
The University of Khartoum, founded in 1902 as Gordon Memorial College, has a rich history rooted in Sudan's educational development. Established following Britain's dominance in Sudan, the college began with a focus on industrial training and teacher education, later evolving into a comprehensive institution. By the mid-20th century, it had expanded its academic offerings to include Engineering, Law, Agriculture, and Medicine, becoming home to Sudan's first medical school, the Kitchener School of Medicine.
Renamed as University College Khartoum in 1957, it elevated its status to Khartoum University upon Sudan's independence in 1956. Today, Khartoum University offers a wide range of programs and services, including postgraduate certificates, a robust online learning management system, and access to extensive research through online journals. The institution continues to be a landmark of higher education in Sudan, dedicated to fostering knowledge and innovation while maintaining strong ties to its historical roots
