Umeå Association of International Affairs (UPF Umeå) is an independent organization that has provided a forum for international debate and knowledge exchange since 1995. Based in Umeå, Sweden, it brings people together to explore global issues, exchange perspectives and take part in social activities. The association is politically and religiously independent and bases its work on the conviction that all human beings are equal.
UPF offers a varied programme throughout the semester, including lectures, panel discussions, open forums, debates and conversations. Members can also join informal gatherings, such as barbecues and nights out, as well as trips organized each semester to experience different places and cultures. Its book club is open to members and focuses on one book each month, with two meetings for discussion, fika and a prize sticker. The association also publishes UTPOST and features a podcast among its media offerings. Membership is free for people under 26 and costs 50 SEK per year for older members. UPF welcomes questions, suggestions and new participants.
