About UP Internet
The UP Internet Freedom Network (UP INTERNET) is an alliance of students and volunteers based in the University of the Philippines Los Baños (UPLB) advocating for internet freedom. Established on July 11, 2020, our mission is to achieve a democratized internet that prioritizes human rights and empowers people through technology. Our vision is to create a society that upholds digital and human rights, where the Internet is a political space owned by the people.
UP INTERNET is guided by core principles, including ensuring internet access for all, democratizing the architecture of the Internet, promoting freedom of expression and association, protecting privacy and personal data, fostering gender equality, promoting openness and access to information and culture, empowering individuals through socio-economic innovation, supporting education and digital literacy, ensuring liberty, safety, and security on the internet, and utilizing internet and ICTs for environmental sustainability.
