Uplifting Athletes

Uplifting Athletes is a nonprofit organization founded in 2007, dedicated to harnessing the power of sport to support individuals affected by rare diseases. Born from the experiences of Penn State University football player, Scott Shirley, Uplifting Athletes thrives on the mission to create a community where no one feels alone in their battle against rare diseases, aiming to ignite hope for a brighter future.

With over three dozen university chapters across the country, the organization empowers student-athletes to lead initiatives that raise awareness and funds for rare diseases. Signature events such as Lift For Life and the Touch Down Pledge Drive not only facilitate vital fundraising efforts but also foster leadership skills among participants. To date, Uplifting Athletes has raised more than $8 million to support rare disease research, awareness, and provide uplifting experiences for those in need. Through collaboration, empathy, and passion, Uplifting Athletes strives to create a lasting impact in the lives of many.
