Uppsala studentkår

Uppsala Student Union is a student-led membership organisation representing students at Uppsala University. Established in 1849, it works to improve students’ education and university experience by advocating for their interests and promoting student influence in decisions that affect their studies. Each year, the union appoints around 450 student representatives to university bodies, and it offers students opportunities to take on other elected and voluntary roles.

The union provides support and advice through a faculty coordinator and a student and doctoral student ombudsman, who help with study-related questions. Its advocacy has contributed to changes including anonymous examinations and limits on requiring students to use webcams. Members can access local discounts through partners such as Mecenat and Campus 1477, as well as other businesses in Uppsala.

Students can also connect and get involved through the union’s sections, affiliated associations and buddy programme. Additional services and resources include student accommodation information, scholarships, a calendar, hand loans and the student magazine Ergo.
