About European Urban Initiative
The European Urban Initiative (EUI) is a brand focused on supporting urban areas of all sizes with innovative actions, capacity and knowledge building, policy development, and communication on sustainable urban development. The brand aims to provide opportunities for cities to take ambitious and creative ideas and turn them into pilot projects that can be tested in real urban settings.
EUI provides two levels of support for urban innovation: funding for the testing and transfer of urban innovative solutions, co-financing up to 80% of project activities, and capturing, sharing, and transferring the knowledge generated from the projects. The initiative supports pilot projects that have never been tested anywhere else in Europe, offering financial support up to €5 million from the European Regional Development Funds (ERDF) for project implementation.
Overall, the EUI brand is committed to fostering the deployment of proof-tested urban innovations across the EU, providing structured and systematic transfer mechanisms to ensure the knowledge generated from successful innovative actions is effectively transferred and replicated to other urban realities across Europe.
