Urban.brussels is an administrative body of the Brussels-Capital Region, formerly known as Brussels Urbanism and Heritage. Its mission is to support the Region’s sustainable territorial development by shaping urban planning, conserving cultural heritage and helping renew neighbourhoods. The organisation implements regional policies and manages operational programmes, including Neighbourhood Contracts, Sustainable Neighbourhoods and Urban Policy.
Through its urban planning services, Urban provides information on procedures and handles regional planning permit applications. Its MyPermit platform lets users submit, complete and track planning and environmental permit applications online. The organisation also supports renovation through grants for building renovation and façade improvement, with Renolution offering information and assistance for renovation projects.
Urban.brussels’ heritage work covers movable and immovable heritage, including architectural, natural, archaeological, intangible and mobile heritage. It offers inventories, studies, publications, maps and other resources through its documentation services and online portals. The organisation also promotes Brussels architecture and heritage through awards, exhibitions, cultural activities and public information.
