Urban Growers Collective is a non-profit organization that is dedicated to cultivating nourishing environments and supporting health, economic development, healing, and creativity through urban agriculture. Founded in 2017 by Laurell Sims and Erika Allen, Urban Growers Collective operates 8 urban farms on 11 acres of land in Chicago's South Side. These farms not only focus on production but also provide staff-led education, training, leadership development, and food distribution opportunities.

Using organic growing methods and year-round production strategies, each farm maximizes growing space. Urban Growers Collective offers a variety of programming centered around Food Access, Job Training & Education, and Community Engagement. Their goal is to build stronger, healthier communities by providing training and education on urban agriculture and food systems, offering skill-building experiences and economic opportunities to youth, and creating safe and beautiful spaces for communities to convene and transform.

As a women- and BIPOC-led organization, Urban Growers Collective is committed to promoting racial, economic, gender, and LGBTQ+ equity. Inspired by the legacy of the Underground Railroad, their logo symbolizes their mission to honor the stories and sacrifices of their ancestors by reclaiming activism and growing food.
