UrbisagliaMemoria is the public-facing project of Casa della Memoria di Urbisaglia ETS, a nonprofit association founded on 26 March 2022. Based in Urbisaglia, Italy, the association promotes research into the town’s wartime internment camp, reconstructs the experiences of those detained there, and honors victims of Fascist repression and people who resisted war and racism. Its work emphasizes peace, democracy, and solidarity.
The camp opened on 16 June 1940 at Villa Giustiniani Bandini, near the Abbey of Fiastra, and operated until 1943. About 400 people passed through it, including Italian antifascists and civilians, people from Slovenia, Dalmatia, and Croatia, and Jewish detainees from several European countries.
