About 市區更新基金 Urban Renewal Fund
The Urban Renewal Fund (市區更新基金) is a charitable trust established as part of the Urban Renewal Strategy in Hong Kong. With a focus on putting people first and promoting community consensus, the Fund aims to address the pressing issue of aging buildings in the city. Currently, there are around 4,000 buildings over 50 years old, and this number is expected to increase by 500 per year in the next decade.
To contribute to the community, the Fund has allocated over 160 million Hong Kong dollars to support conservation and revitalization projects. It has also formed a dedicated Urban Renewal Community Service Team comprising four non-governmental organizations. Moreover, the Fund provides funding for social impact assessments and other planning studies proposed by the Urban Renewal District Advisory Platform, as well as heritage conservation and area revitalization projects proposed by NGOs and stakeholders.
