Ursidae Jiu-Jitsu is a family-run martial arts academy in Stanwood, Washington, welcoming students of all ages and experience levels. Founded in 2023 by Jonathan and Christie Blaylock, the academy draws on their Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu training and teaching experience to create an inclusive, supportive environment where students receive individual attention and can work toward personal goals.
The academy offers Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu classes for children and adults, as well as MMA training. Programs include Mighty Mites and women’s-only Jiu-Jitsu, with instruction suited to students pursuing self-defense, competition, fitness, weight loss, confidence, or personal growth. Ursidae encourages students to challenge themselves, improve their grappling skills, and celebrate progress on and off the mats.
Beyond regular classes, the community hosts camps, promotion events, and holiday celebrations. A dedicated Kids Zone gives children a safe, engaging space while parents train. Ursidae serves Stanwood and welcomes people from nearby Camano Island and Mount Vernon. Prospective students can begin with a free trial class and explore membership options for kids and adults.
