Usel

USEL (Ulster Supported Employment Ltd.) is a Northern Ireland organisation that supports people with disabilities and health conditions to develop skills, find meaningful employment and thrive at work. Established to help individuals secure long-term roles suited to their abilities and goals, USEL provides employment support across Northern Ireland, alongside tailored training and programmes for people at different stages of their employment journey.

Its programmes help participants build confidence and prepare for work, while its social enterprises offer practical experience and employment in areas including manufacturing, recycling and upholstery. The organisation also operates Ability Cafés, where participants can develop workplace and culinary skills in a supportive setting. Through this combination of training, guidance and hands-on work, USEL aims to create pathways to lasting careers and inclusive workplaces.

USEL’s stories highlight people contributing across its enterprises, including in café work and recycling, and reflect the value of mentorship, supportive colleagues and opportunities matched to individual strengths.
