About USS tolovana
USS Tolovana AO-64 is a historical and reunion website dedicated to the U. S. Navy fleet oiler and the people who served aboard her.
A Cimarron-class ship acquired during World War II, Tolovana delivered petroleum products to combat vessels, primarily in the Pacific. The site recounts the ship’s history, from its construction at Bethlehem Shipbuilding in Sparrows Point, Maryland, and commissioning on February 24, 1945, to its decommissioning in 1975. It also highlights the dangers and significance of the ship’s service, including its awards: one battle star for World War II, two for the Korean War, and thirteen campaign stars and a Navy Unit Commendation for Vietnam War service.
Visitors can explore a cruisebook and cruisebook gallery, reunion information and galleries, videos, newsletters, and historical material. The website also features local scuttlebutt, a store, and contact details, helping former crew members, families, and naval history enthusiasts stay connected and learn more about Tolovana’s legacy. The ship was 553 feet long and could reach 18 knots
