The theme for UX Copenhagen® 2024 is “Degrowth & Consumerism”. Angelos Arnis, our closing keynote for UX Copenhagen 2023, stated very bluntly “There is no planet B”. It’s now that we have to start mobilizing change, and we need to do it fast! We have to look into alternative ways of living, spending, eating, and disposing, and creating solutions that benefit our communities and the world we live in. With the theme for 2024, we’d like to open the discussion about degrowth and consumerism, focusing on subjects like the future of urban agriculture, climate change, consumerism, and waste. What can we as designers can do to make sustainable, systematic changes for the better?
