Vacation Home Automation

Affordable Peace of Mind is a vacation-home automation information and product-review website created by Larry Robertson, a vacation-home owner and IT professional. It helps owners of cottages, cabins, and other properties manage security, comfort, connectivity, and energy use when they are away. Drawing on Robertson’s experience with automation in his Michigan vacation home, the site publishes practical guides, product discussions, and installation advice for remote property care.

Its coverage spans smart-home automation, climate control, network connectivity, security, and monitoring alerts. Featured topics include X-Sense smart alarms, Reolink security cameras and NVR setup, water-leak detection, and monitoring temperature, humidity, and power to help reduce risks such as frozen pipes. The site also explores remotely preheating a bed with a Wi-Fi-connected heated mattress pad, managing irrigation with a Rachio 3 smart sprinkler controller, controlling lights with Kasa smart dimmers, and improving remote network management with a UniFi Cloud Gateway.

Rather than presenting itself as an automation product manufacturer, Affordable Peace of Mind offers educational content to help vacation-home owners assess technologies, choose equipment, and build systems that support safer, more convenient property management.
