Vai Ra is a homegrown brand that emerged during the pandemic in 2020, founded by Rohit and Oendrilla. Initially, they ran a marketing agency called The Bid, but their journey took a new turn when Oendrilla's sister desired a large diamond solitaire for her wedding. However, the high prices of such diamonds were beyond their budget.

This disappointment led them to discover an excellent alternative: Moissanite. Through conversations with Oendrilla's colleague from the US, they learned about the affordability and beauty of Moissanite. This sparked their interest in exploring India's Moissanite artisans and designers.

Noticing that solitaire diamonds were unaffordable for many in India, Vai Ra aimed to bridge this gap. To make solitaire rings accessible to those with an average income, they decided to create budget-friendly Moissanite rings made in gold. Their first order, a couple ring for Oendrilla's sister and her husband, was crafted in 14kt white gold.

Vai Ra derives its name from the Tamil word vajram, meaning diamond, as it represents both light and the gateway through which light enters. Moissanite, with its higher refractive index, emits stunning rays of color, making it even more dazzling than diamonds. Since its inception, Vai Ra has grown steadily, boasting a customer base of 250 across India.

While still a small team, Rohit handles vendor relationships, operations, and finance, while Oendrilla oversees product design, quality, and customer service. Vai Ra's mission is to revolutionize online jewelry shopping, understanding that every piece of jewelry holds a significant moment
