VAISAKHI MELA

Panjabi Heritage of Australia is a Sydney-based community organization dedicated to celebrating and sharing Punjabi culture and traditions. For more than two decades, it has organized an annual Vaisakhi festival, bringing together Punjabi and North Indian communities to mark the start of the Vaisakh month. The 2026 celebration is scheduled for Sunday, 12 April, at Blacktown Showground.

The festival is described as one of Australia’s largest Indian cultural events, attracting approximately 10,000 people each year. Visitors can experience traditional Indian dances, games, folklore, performances by popular community artists, and food stalls serving traditional dishes. The event also creates opportunities for businesses to connect through business-to-business and business-to-consumer networking. Sponsors can gain visibility through stalls, stage announcements, and outdoor and radio promotion.

The organization’s leadership includes secretary Harkirat Singh Sandhar, a writer, historian, and radio host, and president Devinder Singh Dharia, a singer and community leader. Through its festival and community involvement, Panjabi Heritage of Australia supports cultural expression and connection across Sydney.
