Vale de Moses is a family-run retreat in the forested mountain valleys of central Portugal, welcoming guests to rest, reconnect with nature and enjoy a slower pace of life. The Winter family discovered the property in 2007 and has since restored its traditional schist stone houses using local materials and building methods. Guests can stay in private double rooms in the farmhouse, shared open-plan cottages or glamping belle tents beneath fruit trees.
The retreat offers yoga and other movement practices, woodland walks, forest bathing, healing treatments and health consultations, alongside scheduled retreats and venue hire. Its program includes specialist experiences such as Pilates, Clinical Somatic Education and creative workshops. Three vegetarian or vegan meals are prepared daily, featuring seasonal produce from the retreat’s gardens, nearby growers and local suppliers. Guests can also enjoy river paths and pools, a sauna lodge, hammocks and quiet spaces for rest. Vale de Moses hosts retreats in Portugal’s Castelo Branco region, with bookings available for upcoming programs and the 2027 calendar.
