About Valley Metro
Valley Metro, also known as The Greater Roanoke Transit Company, is a private non-profit public service organization owned by the City of Roanoke. With operations starting in 1975, Valley Metro offers a comprehensive range of transportation services to the residents of the greater Roanoke Valley area. Their services include fixed route bus service, special services for individuals with disabilities, commuter service to the New River Valley, and special event shuttle buses.
Valley Metro is committed to meeting the needs of area commuters and contracts with First Transit, Inc. Meador Operations, Maintenance and Administrative Facility, Valley Metro's skilled mechanics handle bus repair, paint and bodywork, and engine rebuilding in-house.
