Vallombrosafirenze

Vallombrosa – La Foresta di Firenze ETS is an association based in Reggello, in the Florence area, dedicated to promoting Vallombrosa and its forest as a model for environmental care and sustainable mountain life. Its mission is to encourage good practices, strengthen connections between Vallombrosa and Florence, and make the area a place for learning and discussion about the environment and sustainability.

The association supports the value of the forest and surrounding territory through public events, educational activities, research, and dialogue. Its initiatives include Foresta Maestra, a festival held in Florence and Vallombrosa, and Vallombrosa Basics, a series of talks covering the area’s history, natural environment, and the importance of the Vallombrosan order. It also organizes conferences and round tables, shares reports and press coverage, and promotes sustainable ecotourism planning. Recent work has addressed transport connections and the potential reuse of the former Sant’Ellero–Saltino/Vallombrosa railway route. Through these activities, the association brings residents, visitors, and organizations together to discuss the future of Vallombrosa and support the responsible appreciation of its local heritage.
