Valtersten Mellangård

Valterstens El & Lantbruk AB (VELAB) is run by Mats and Anette Isacsson at Valtersten Mellangård on Vikbolandet, near Norrköping, Sweden. The business brings together organic farming, farm products, horse breeding, pomology and electrical installation services. Its grain and apple production has been KRAV-certified since 2002, and the farm grows without chemical pesticides or artificial fertilisers.

VELAB specialises in heritage grains, which it considers well suited to organic cultivation. Its products include sifted Fylgia spring-wheat flour, finely milled wholegrain Emmer flour and coarsely stone-ground Östgöta Gråråg rye flour, available through its online shop. The farm also grows Stormogul black oats, sold as organic feed for trotting and riding horses, with bulk deliveries available.

The orchard contains about 100 apple trees representing 20 varieties. Anette, a pomologist, offers apple variety identification, and the farm may sell apple juice depending on the harvest. VELAB also breeds cold-blooded trotters on a small scale. Mats continues to provide electrical installation services on a limited basis.
