Sosiaali- ja terveysalan lupa- ja valvontavirasto Valvira valvoo jokaisen suomalaisen oikeutta hyvinvointiin, laadukkaisiin palveluihin ja turvallisiin elinoloihin. Olemme sosiaali- ja terveysministeriön hallinnonalan keskusvirasto, jonka ydintehtävä on valvoa sosiaali- ja terveydenhuollon, alkoholielinkeinon sekä ympäristöterveydenhuollon toiminnan asianmukaisuutta. Myönnämme lisäksi sosiaali- ja terveydenhuollon hallinnonalan lupia ja ohjaamme aluehallintovirastoja tavoitteenamme yhdenmukaiset lupa-, ohjaus- ja valvontakäytännöt koko maassa. Arvoihimme kuuluvat oikeudenmukaisuus, rohkeus ja uudistuminen. Meitä valviralaisia on yhteensä noin 170 Helsingin ja Rovaniemen toimipisteillä. Palveluksessamme työskentelee muun muassa lakimiehiä, ylilääkäreitä, ylitarkastajia, järjestelmäasiantuntijoita, sihteereitä ja assistentteja. Valvira is a centralized body operating under the Ministry of Social Affairs and Health, tasked with promoting the health and welfare of Finland's residents through supervision and proactive and responsive guidance. We are in charge of the supervision of social and health care, alcohol and environmental health sectors. We provide licensing for social and health care providers and offer guidance to the Regional State Administrative Agencies to achieve harmonized licensing, guidance and supervisory practices throughout Finland.
